New app to help parents in most critical years
The Department for Education has launched a new app - a go-to source for trusted information about child health, learning, development and wellbeing from birth to 5 years.
The Department for Education developed the app in consultation with:
- Child and Family Health Service (CaFHS)
- the Department of Human Services
- Wellbeing SA (now Preventative Health SA)
- Parenting SA
- and SA Dental.
The opportunity to provide parents and carers with dental health information for children under the age of 5 is so important. Ensuring parents and carers know more about dental tips will help to establish oral health habits at an early age, and may prevent dental problems later.
The Early Years SA mobile app complements but does not replace the child’s Blue Book.
The Blue Book is used by midwives, doctors and community nurses to record important health information for babies. Parents and carers will still need to bring this to all of their child's medical appointments, including health checks, GP or specialist appointments and immunisations.
SA Dental has provided dental information within the new mobile app specifically for parents and carers of babies and preschoolers.
Information you can trust at your fingertips
Using the Early Years SA app parents and carers can:
- record a child's growth
- filter information based on the child's age
- source trusted information that is credible and relevant to South Australian families
- set up reminder notifications to organise child health and development checks, immunisation, dental checks, and when to start preschool and school enrolment
- connect with early years service providers, such as ForWhen, Kidsafe and Child and Family Health Service.
